To meet the minimum standard of competence for all trainees assigned to shipboard duties as required in Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code as amended, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competence in Elementary First Aid.
Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must be able to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency.

To meet the minimum standard of competence for all seafarers assigned to shipboard duties as required in Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code as amended, this course is designed to enable the trainees to successfully demonstrate the competences on Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities.
Specifically, at the end of the course the trainee must be able to:
- comply with emergency procedures;
- take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment;
- observe safe working practices;
- understand orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties; and
- contribute to effective human relationships on board ship.
